The University of Maine men's ice hockey team was selected 12th in the Hockey East Coaches Poll today at Media Day.  Boston University was the top team in the conference with 10 first place votes.

The Black Bears finished with 30 votes overall in the poll and will try to improve on their 8-24-6 overall mark from a year ago in which the team finished conference play in 11th place.  After BU in the poll, Northeastern, Notre Dame, UMass Lowell, and Providence wrapped up the top five.

UMaine will begin its season this Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. when the Black Bears host St. Francis Xavier for a single game at Alfond Arena.  Conference play will begin on November 4th when the team plays Boston College at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland.
