The University of Maine softball is heading to the championship game in the America East conference after taking down Binghamton by a score of 3-0 in Vestal, New York.

The Black Bears jumped out to an early lead against the Bearcats in the first inning of play, scoring a run on a passed ball.  Alyssa Derrick would later drive home two more runs to give Maine the 3-0 edge after one.  The Black Bears would be shut down offensively, but held on to the win on the strength of their pitching.
Erin Bogdanovich, the Pitcher of the Year in the conference, started the contest and threw seven scoreless innings on way to the win.  She allowed just six hits, one walk, and struck out two Bearcats in the victory.

Maine will now wait to see who they will play in the championship game on Saturday in the double elimination tournament.  The Black Bears will have to win just one more game of a possible two to earn their first championship since 2004.  There are some weather concerns in New York so the championship game may be delayed this weekend.
