UMaine softball has won three major America East Conference awards - Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year and Rookie of the Year.

Pitcher of the Year Erin Bogdanovich posted a 7-0 conference record and had an ERA of 1.11 during the 2016 campaign in conference play.  She was able to strike out 39 batters in 50.1 innings pitched.  Her sister Alexis won the award last year as well as a Senior with the Black Bears.

UM catcher Janelle Bouchard, the lone senior on the Black Bears, wins Player of the Year. She hit for an average of .394 with four home runs and 35 RBIs.  She also led the team with 13 doubles on the year.

Rookie of the Year in AE is Maine's third baseman Alyssa Derrick. She led Maine with eight home runs and 37 runs batted in, while hitting 300 for the Black Bears.

NOTE: Maine finished the season 25-19 overall and a 12-5 record in conference.  The Black Bears will play the winner of Albany and Hartford in the second round of the America East tournament on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
