The University of Maine women’s basketball team will participate in the 2016 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Challenge in Springfield, MA.

The Black Bears will play four games in the challenge tournament, including three match-ups in South Carolina before playing their final game in Springfield.  Maine will play St Peter’s University on Nov. 20, University of South Carolina on Nov. 21, and Hampton University on Nov. 22.  The game at the MassMutual Center in Springfield will be played against the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

"We are very excited to be playing in the Hall of Fame Women's Challenge," head coach Richard Barron said via a team press release. "Playing at South Carolina will be a great experience. Dawn Staley has built an incredible program and they lead the nation in attendance. We are also looking forward to the game against UTC at MassMutual Center. Jim Foster has been a role model for me since my days at Sewanee. It is a great field this year and will help give us one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country."

Along with the four teams previously listed, Bowling Green, Louisville, and Lafayette will be rounding out the seven team field.

Game start times will be released at a later date according to the release.
