UMaine Advances To Second Round [VIDEO]

The University of Maine Women's basketball team won its first postseason game since 1999 with a 77-47 win over Bucknell in the first round of the Women's Basketball Invitational.Liz Wood led four Black Bears in double-figures with 21 points, a performance that included a career high five 3-pointers. Maine came out strong and built an 11 point lead by halftime, but became even more accurate in the second half when they shot 61 percent from the floor. Mikaela Gustafsson provided great balance for the Bears with 13 points and 9 rebounds while Lauren Bodine came off the bench to hit four 3-pointers and finish the game with 11 points.

Maine will be on the road for their second round game against Fairfield which will be played Saturday or Sunday at a yet to be determined time. This will be the second meeting of the season between the two with Fairfield beating the Bears 80-59 in December at the Brown University Tournament. Maine will go into that game with a 17-14 record.
