It wasn't easy but the UMaine women's basketball team won their 12th straight game escaping Vermont with a 57-54 win over the Catamounts.The win also gives the Bears a 20 win season, something they have not had in nine years. Maine built a 10 point lead by halftime but saw it disappear as the second half moved along. Vermont had a couple three-point tries in the final seconds to tie the game but came up short.

Sigi Koizar led the Bears with 16 points while Mikaela Gustafsson came off the bench to score 12. Sophie Weckstrom also reached double-figures with 10 points.

Maine is back on the road Saturday for a game at Binghamton.
