Husson softball finally played a home game winning a double header played on Boucher soccer field, while UMaine baseball stepped on Mahaney Diamond to get a win.

Steve Trimper's Bears opened their home schedule with a 10-1 win over UMaine Farmington in a non-conference match-up. Troy Black had two hits and two rbi to pace the Bears offensive attack, while Brian Doran added a hit and two rbi in the Bears 9th win of the season.

Maine split the pitching duties between six different pitchers with starter Shaun Coughlin getting the win after going the first two innings where he allowed just one hit and struckout 4.

Maine returns to conference play on Saturday and Sunday when they host the Hartford Hawks.

Husson softball swept a double-header from Maine Maritime Academy by scores of 6-5 and 8-0. With O'Keefe Field still unplayable due to wet conditions, the games were played on Boucher Soccer field which was fitted with a temporary outfield fence and backstop.

In game one the Eagles were trailing 5-4 going into the bottom of the 7th inning before Sami Shultz hit a walk-off 2-run double to win it.

Shultz added two more rbi's in the second game to help Husson get a mercy rule shortened 8-0 win on five innings. Freshman catcher Casey Lopes also drove in two runs, while pitcher Kayla Merrill went the distance allowing just 2 hits and striking out 8.

The 8-4 Eagles host Castleton State on Sunday.
