Opening night at the Cross Center for the UMaine men's basketball team did not go as planned. New Jersey Institute of Technology came in and spoiled the party 88-82.

Sophomore Dimitry Coronel helped with a second half comeback, scoring 26 points in that second half but the Bears come up short. The Bears are 1-3. NJIT is 3-1 Attendance on opening night was 1.772.
