Round one between the UMaine and UNH hockey teams did little to show who the better team is after skating to a 3-3 tie in front of a sellout crowd at Alfond Arena.New Hampshire scored the first 2 goals of the game with Tyler Kelleher setting one up in the first and second period. The second goal of the game seemed to jump start the Bears as they would would score the next three and take their first lead of the game.

Cedric Lecroix got Maine on the board to cut the lead in half in the second period. The Bears got the game tied when Will Merchant scored his 6th goal of the season and took the lead just 1:52 later when Brian Morgan made it a 3-2 score on the second assist of the game form Andrew Tegeler.

Before the second period came to an end the Wildcats would tie the game and cap the scoring for the night.

Maine (4-8-4) certainly had no problems getting scoring opportunities as they out shot UNH 53-36. Matt Morris got the start in goal for the Bears and stopped 33 shots.

The two teams continue their home and home weekend series with a match-up tonight in New Hampshire.
