The University of Maine football team continued their impressive play with a 62-28 pounding of Delaware at Alfond Stadium Saturday.The Bears scored 20 points in a six minute 30 second span of the first quarter on a touchdown pass, a touchdown run and a fumble return and never looked back.

Sophomore running back Nigel Jones had another solid game rushing for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns. While quarterback Marcus Wasilewski threw for 265 yards and 3 touchdowns.

UMaine outgained the Blue Hens 602 yards to 339. Their 62 points is the biggest output against a division I team since 2003 when they scored 77 against Morgan State.

With the win the Bears improve to 5-1, something they have done only three times in the 13 seasons. In 2001 they started 5-1 on their way to a conference championship and made it to the second round on the NCAA tournament. In 2002 they won eight of their first nine games, won the conference championship and made it to the second round of the NCAA tourney. More recently they started the 2011 season with a 7-1 record and made it to the NCAA final eight.

The Bears now have a bye week before hosting William & Mary for homecoming.
