UMaine Women’s Hoops Gets First AE Win

The UMaine women’s basketball team picked up its first America East Conference win and senior Ashleigh Roberts scored her 1000th career point Wednesday night. The Bears beat UMBC 68-39.

Roberts needed 12 points to become the 17th player to hit 1,000 points and she scored exaactly 12.

Liz Wood led Maine with 17.

The Black Bears had one of those nights shooting the three-pointer. 12 for 32 overall including 9 in the first half.

Perhaps most importantly, the Bears turned the ball over just 7 times while dishing out 24 assists.

Maine is now 7-8 overall, 1-1 in American East. The struggling UMBC Retrievers are 2-12 and 1-1.
