University of Maine field hockey player Holly Stewart has been awarded the 2015 America East Women of the Year Award, the first female Black Bear to receive the honor.Stewart was presented the award at the America East Conference Tuesday night in New Hampshire. The award recognizes the conference’s senior female student-athlete who has best distinguished herself throughout her collegiate career in the areas of academic achievement, athletic excellence, service and leadership.

Stewart graduated with a 3.97 GPA and a degree in kinesiology and physical education while also being named an All-American.

Currently Stewart is with the Canadian National team trying to earn a spot on the roster for the upcoming Olympics.
