The UMaine men's basketball program is losing standout freshman Isaac Vann. The 6-foot-6 forward from Connecticut has decided to transfer and Maine has granted Vann's request.

It's a big loss for the Black Bear program. Van averaged over 16 points a game and 8 rebounds a game.

He now wants to try to play at a higher level.

"I feel I am capable of competing at a higher level  and I am excited to test my abilities," said Vann in a statement released by the university.

UM coach Bob Walsh, appearing on 'The Drive Show' on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket said 'there have been a number of open and honest discussions and it was decided to release him from his scholarship to pursue his goals was in his best interest."
