UMass Lowell Wins First Hockey East Championship

For the first time in school history the UMass Lowell River Hawks can call themselves Hockey East Champions after beating Boston University 1-0.The lone goal of the game came 11:09 into the third period off the stick  of junior Derek Arnold. Freshman goalie Connor Hellebuyck was fantastic in net once again making 36 saves for the shutout.

The loss for BU in all likelyhood means their season has come to an end unless they somehow receive an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament, that also means the end of the 40 year career of Terriers coach Jack Parker who previously announced his retirement.
