UM’s Byron To Become NHL Free Agent
University of Maine forward Blaine Byron will become an unrestricted NHL free agent this August, according to a report Wednesday that said he does not intend to sign with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Byron was drafted by the Pens in 2013 in the sixth round, 179 overall and has played the last four season with UMaine. Last season with the Black Bears he played in 36 games and led the team in scoring with 18 goals and 41 points. The Manotick, Ontario native logged 46 goals in his tenure at UMaine.

As a result of Byron not signing his offer by the Penguins, he will become a free agent and is free to sign with any franchise.
