UM’s Courtney Named AE Pitcher Of Week

UMaine sophomore pitcher Justin Courtney has been named America East Conference pitcher of the week for his efforts in the season opener vs Clemson.

Courtney did not give up an earned run in five innings of work. He struck out eight and got a no decision but the Black Bears did go on to beat Clemson 4-3.

Infielder Danny Casals won AE rookie of the week after hitting .333 in the three game series with the Tigers. Casals also walked three times, scored two runs and stole a base.

The Bears play at New Mexico State this weekend.
