University of Maine wide receiver and kick returner Earnest Edwards has taken home the Colonial Athletic Association Special Teams Player of the Week for his work against Villanova this past weekend.  Edwards has also won a Rookie of the Week honor by the conference earlier in the season.

Edwards had a 97-yard kick return for a touchdown in the early moments of the second half to get the Black Bears back into the contest against the Wildcats at Alfond Stadium.  The return TD was the first by a Black Bear since 2013 and tied the longest return in program history.  Edwards also added three receptions for 54 yards on the afternoon.  Micah Wright received the Special Teams Player of the Week last time for his work versus William & Mary.

Maine had its five game winning streak snapped against Villanova in the 26-7 loss, and will need to win the next two games to have a chance to make the NCAA playoffs.  The Black Bears travel to New York to face the Stony Brook Seawolves this weekend before closing out the year with New Hampshire on November 19th.
