The University of New England in Biddeford is adding football next year and now the school has its first head coach - Mike Lichten. He comes from Becker College where he was the head coach for the past five years.

This past season Becker won a school record 7 games and he was named ECFC coach of the year.

He is a 2008 graduate of the University of New Hampshire.

UNE will start its football program at the sub-varsity level for 2017 and will join the Commonwealth Coast Conference in 2018. The Nor'easters already have their first game booked for August 30th, 2018 against the Coast Guard.

UNE becomes the 7th college in Maine to offer football (UMaine, Husson, MMA, Colby, Bowdoin and Bates).
