Verso has signed a purchase agreement with AIM Development, a company that re-purposes business sites. What that will mean for workers due to be laid off at the end of this month is unclear.

According to WABI-TV, Verso spokesperson Bill Cohen said employees were told of the plans on Monday afternoon. AIM Development will continue to operate the energy facilities, but there was no information about what will happen with the rest of the operation.

Street Insider says the mill is selling for $60 million dollars in cash and the sale is expected to be completed next month. But what that will mean for the soon-to-be unemployed workers has not been defined.

AIM Development bought a similar mill in Minnesota with the same intentions. The energy portion of the mill continued to run while the rest of the buildings were demolished.
