Minnesota Viking running back Adrian Peterson has reached a plea deal in his child abuse case down in Texas.

Peterson pleads no contest to one count of a misdemeanor of reckless assault instead of a felony count of child abuse.

No jail time. A $4,000 fine. Probation and community service.

ProFootballTalk.com was the first to report details of this story.

Now the question is what about his return to the NFL. Peterson has been on the commissioner's exempt list, getting paid but having no contact with his team.

He has missed eight games.
