Six local student-athletes have been nominated for First National Bank High School Athlete of the Week honors.

This week's nominees are Zach Tubbs of Hermon, Caitlin MacPherson of Ellsworth, Erin Gerbi of Orono, Cole Steeves of MCI, Connor DeMerchant of Presque Isle and Katie Levesque of Central Aroostook.

Here's how each athlete performed last week

Zach Tubbs of Hermon rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns in the Hawks' 41-0 shutout against Oceanside on Friday night. It was Hermon's first-ever postseason victory. The sophomore fullback took on a larger role after running back River Mullen suffered an ankle injury in the second quarter. The Hawks advanced to take on Winslow in the semifinals on Friday.

Caitlin MacPherson of Ellsworth helped lead the Eagles girls cross country team to a Class B state title on Saturday at Troy A. Howard Middle School in Belfast. MacPherson finished third in the event with a time of 19:58.50. It was Ellsworth's first state championship in girls cross country since 1978.

Cole Steeves of MCI rushed for 143 yards on just seven carries and scored three touchdowns in the Huskies' 50-6 win against Belfast last Friday. His performance in the Class C North quarterfinal game included scores from 61 and 52 yards out. MCI advanced to take on Nokomis in the semifinal round on Friday.

Erin Gerbi of Orono helped lead the Red Riots girls cross country team to their second straight Class C title last weekend in Belfast. Gerbi finished third in the event with a time of 19:17:32. It was Orono's fifth state title in the last six years.

Connor DeMerchant of the Presque Isle boys soccer team scored two goals in the Wildcats' 6-0 shutout against Brewer last Saturday, a Class B North semifinal matchup. DeMerchant's first goal came when he headed in a corner kick by Zechariah Morse. The Wildcats will play Washington Academy in Wednesday's regional championship.

Katie Levesque of the Central Aroostook girls soccer team scored three goals in the Panthers' win against Katahdin in the seimifinal round of the Class D North playoffs. Levesque added two assists in the 5-1 triumph. Central Aroostook will take on Ashland in the regional finals on Wednesday.

Voting is restricted to once every 24 hours. Voting ends at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31.
