Bangor's Jesse Speirs will be one of 150 golfers on the PGA Web.com Tour to tee it up today for the first ever tournament in the Dominican Republic.

The four-day tourney is in Punta Cana, D.R. and will the golfers will compete on a long, 7,600 yard course with $625,000 in prize money. This is the final out-of-USA event on the tour this year.

Speirs begins this 10th event on the Web.com tour ranked #151, making the cut in three of the nine previous tournaments.

Keep in mind the top 25 ranked players on the Web.com Tour earn their PGA Players Card for 2017.

A check of his stats below show Speirs excelling in some catagories and struggling in others.

For instance, he is 4th on the tour in driving distance (309 Yds) but just 122nd in driving accuracy(59%). Speirs' overall stat ranking is 84th but his 151 ranking puts him in jeopardy for future status on the Web.com Tour.

He tees off at 2:30pm for round one.
