The Red Sox lost in Baltimore 6-0. That loss combined with a Tampa Bay win means the Sox(61-43) have fallen out of first place by a half game to the Rays(61-42).

It is the first time since May 25th that the Sox have not had at least a share of first place in the AL east.

In Friday night's loss, John Lackey gave up three home runs and five runs in 6 1/3 innings. The bats remain cold, just four hits off O's starter Chris Tillman.

Not that it helps any....but... if the Red Sox were in any other division in baseball except the NL Central, they would be in first place. That's how tough the AL east is!
