A Wilton man changed his plea to guilty in the beating death of his grandmother and is sentenced to 35 years in prison.

Dana Craney Jr. had originally pleaded not guilty to bludgeoning his grandmother to death with a hammer while she slept in December of 2014. Police say he covered 67-year-old Joanne Goudreau's body with trash and debris behind the mobile home the two shared in Wilton.

He changed his plea to guilty on Monday as part of a deal with the District Attorney's office. Craney was then sentenced to 35 years in prison.

Craney's father is also serving time for murder. Dana Craney Sr. was convicted along with another man in the 1993 killing of Leon Michaud. Craney Jr. was just five months old when his father was arrested three years after the killing.
