The Hampden Broncos claimed their sixth win of the year, a 71-47 win over Lawrence.  The Brewer Witches also won to keep the Heal Point battle for first place in Class A North very close.

The Broncos jumped on the Bulldogs to lead 26-6 after one quarter, thanks in big part to senior Brendan McIntyre's 17 points(5 three-pointers).

Early in the second quarter McIntyre rolled his ankle on a breakaway play. He left the game and did not return.

Lawrence came back on Hampden a couple of times, getting within 12. Junior Mason Cooper pumped in 28 points.

But the overall balance of the Broncos, even without McIntyre, kept the Bulldogs at bay. Nick Gilpin scored 14, Nick Chasse 11, Ian McIntyre 10 and Connor Moore had 8.

Hampden improves to 6-0. Lawrence now 2-4.

At Newport...the Brewer one-two punch of Matt Pushard and Carter Smith lead the Witches to a sixth straight win(6-0). Pushard scored 25 point and Smith added 19.

Brewer leads Hampden by about 2 1/2 Heal Points for first place.

NOTE:  The Broncos and Witches meet for the first time on January 2nd. That game will air live on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket and 929theticket.com.
