Lindsay Withee, coach of the state champion Winslow girls basketball team, is stepping down as coach of the Black Raiders.

Withee told Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket than she informed her athletic directo Jim Bourgoin yesterday and then met with players this morning.

'As much as I love coaching, my career is taking me in a different direction right now," says Withee.

She is currently a teacher at Winslow with the Jobs For Maine Grads (JMG) program but will soon take a regional manager position with that program.

Withee coached the Winslow girls for six years. This past season, the Black Raiders finished #6 in Class B North and then went on to win the regional title and then beat Lake Region to win the state championship.

She played her high school ball at Nokomis and college hoops at the University of Southern Maine.

Bourgoin says the search for a new coach begins immediately.
