That AL East clinching celebration for the Boston Red Sox will have to wait another day. One big swing of the bat by Neil Walker of the Yankees helped get them a 3-2 win in game one of the three game series.

The swing was a three-run blast into the rightfield seats in the 7th inning. With the Sox leading 1-0 after six quality innings by starter Nathan Eovaldi, Brandon Workman gave up two walks and then Ryan Brasier gave up the home run.

The Red Sox chipped away at the deficit in the 9th inning when the Yankees made two errors trying to turn doubleplays. Finally, on their third attempt, they did turn a doubleplay to hold on a win 3-2.

The Sox drop to 103-48. The Yanks improve to 92-58.

Game two of the series is tonight with David Price facing Luis Severino. Live coverage on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket starts at 6:25pm.
