The New York Yankees did what most baseball observers said they couldn't do. They beat the Cleveland Indians 5-2 last night and finish off a comeback of being down 2-0 to win the best-of-five ALDS. The Yanks meet the Houston Astros for the American league championship starting Friday night.

Didi Gregorius hit two home runs and CC Sabathia struck out nine to lead the Yanks to the winner-take-all win.

Meanwhile, at Wrigley Field in Chicago, the Washington Nationals staved off elimination with a 5-0 shutout victory in game four of the NLDS.

Stephen Strasburg struck out 12 in seven innings of work and Michael Taylor hit a grand slam to lead the Nats.

Game five gets played tonight back in Washington.
