Fingerprints on file since last year at the Bangor Police Department led to an arrest today.

On July 9, 2013 an employee at Blind Faith Tattoo Shop in downtown Bangor reported that a man walked by their Central Street business and smashed out the window with his hands. The man continued down Central Street on foot. Bangor officers caught up with the suspect walking on Hammond Street.

The man denied being involved in the incident and agreed to return to the tattoo shop with the officer. However, employees at the business could not be sure he was the same person that had smashed the window. Fingerprints from the crime scene were taken, cataloged and saved for later comparison.

This past week, the original suspect in the case was identified by the use of those cataloged fingerprints. Michael Meteer (33) of Bangor was being held at the Penobscot County Jail on an unrelated charge. Meteer has now been charged with Criminal Mischief from last year’s window smashing incident.
