Albany Beats Both UM Hoops Teams

The Albany Great Danes took a bite out both UMaine teams Saturday afternoon. The women's team beat the Bears 84-56. The Danes men's team beat the UM men 85-78.

In Albany, NY the Black Bear women's team had the Danes in check halfway through, trailing by just 4. But the second half was a different story as the Danes out scored Maine 54-30.The Bears ended up getting out rebounded 38-25 and Albany scored 23 points off 18 Maine turnovers.

Ashleigh Roberts led the Bears with 22 poitns, Sarah Royals scored 23 for the Danes

While Albany improves to 14-3 overall, 4-0 in conference...the Bears fall to 9-9 and 3-2.

On the men's side, Maine and Albany played at Memorial Gym on the Orono campus. The Bears got down 13-4 early but came back to make it a 3 point game at the half.

In the second half, Maine again drop behind by double digits and could not recover. UM could get close but never grabbed a lead.

Ethan Mackey scored 24 for Maine, including 11 of 12 from the field. Gary Johnson had 28 for the Danes.

The Black Bears fall to 1-4 in America East, 3-14 overall. Albany is  3-2 and 9-9.
