America East Tourney Time

UMaine Black Bear basketball teams head to Albany, New York this week for the America East Conference Championship Tournament. If Maine teams want to play in the NCAA tourney they will need to win the conference title and get the automatic qualifier.

Coach Richard Barron's  team (16-13, 10-6) finished its best regular season since 2004-2005. The 13-win turnaround from last year puts the Bears in the #4 spot and a quarterfinal game Friday against #5 Hartford.

Coach Jen Rizzotti's Hawks (12-17, 9-7) have played in the conference title game in three of the past four years.

Coach Ted Woodward's men's team (6-22, 4-12) and have a nine game tournament losing streak that they would like to end. The #7 Bears will meet #2 Stony Brook (21-9, 13-3). The Seawolves have won a bunch of tournament games in recent years but are still looking for their first league title.
