Ashland Community High School junior Mackenzie Carter has won the High School Athlete of the Week with 47 percent of the overall total vote over Dexter’s Zach White and George Stevens Academy’s John Hassett.

Carter has had a season and career to remember on the soccer pitch for the Hornets as the team wrapped up an unbeaten regular season last Friday.  Carter scored two of the four goals in the Hornets’ win against Hodgdon to give her 43 on the season.  With only three years played for Ashland, she already has 103 total goals.  Carter has already broken the school record for goals in a season that was set by herself and Savannah Flint in 2015, and surpassed the latter’s career goals mark, previously set at 98.  She’s helped the Hornets to a record of 14-0.

The Hornets are the top seed in Class D North and will look to continue the impressive winning streak in the playoffs.  The voting this week had almost 1,000 total votes.

Nominations for our High School Athlete of the Week are now open again and you can submit a nomination by using our submission form and we’ll announce our next voting on Monday afternoon.
