Bears Ready For Conference Tourney [VIDEO]

The University of Maine women's basketball team opens America East tournament play today after picking up significant hardware at the postseason banquet.Head Coach Richard Barron was named the America East Coach of the Year while Liz Wood received co-defensive player of the year honors. Wood and Sigi Koizar were also named to the first team all-conference squad for their efforts this season.

The Bears will play the first game of the tournament today when they take on the #8 seeded Binghamton Bearcats. Maine has won five straight games against the Bearcats including a sweep of this years regular season match-ups. Wood and Koizar lead the bears with a combined average of 60 points per game. The quarterfinals and semifinals are being played at Binhamton this season with the championship to be played at the highest remaining seed.
