The University of Maine women's basketball team will play in postseason and will do so on the road when they meet Villanova in the first round of the WNIT on Friday.The Bears learned late Monday night that their hopes of hosting the game would not happen when the bracket was released. Should the Bears win they would meet the winner of Virginia and Old Dominion.

Maine and Villanova have met twice over the years with each team winning once. The Wildcats took the first game back in 1990. Maine won the second meeting in 1995.

The Bears will enter the game with a 23-8 record after falling in the America East semifinals. This is the fourth trip to the WNIT where Maine which has a record of 1-4 in those games.

Villanova has a 19-13 record this season and last played on March 9 when they lost to DePaul in the big East semifinals. Coroline Coyer leads the Wildcats in scoring this season averaging 13 points per game.

The 6,500 seat Pavilion serves as the home court to the Wildcats who have an average home attendance this season of 794 and a record of 11-2.
