'Big Game' James Shields is not coming to Boston, he's going to San Diego. And, he's getting a 4-year deal worth about $75-million.

Shields was the best starting pitcher left in free agency but teams were not biting on the $100-million price tag his agent put out there.

The Padres will give him a 4-year contract and there is an option for a 5th year worth about $16-million.

The Red Sox talked with Shields during the winter meetings but never did seem all that interested in signing him.
