The UMaine Black Bears made four interceptions, forced a fumble, blocked a punt for a touchdown and upset the #8 ranked Richmond Spiders 33-20 Saturday afternoon.

The win moves Maine to 3-3 in the CAA (4-5 overall). Richmond is 4-2 (7-3 overall).

After the Spiders scored the first touchdown of the game, the Black Bears scored 23 unanswered points before halftime.

A Trevor Bates interception return for a TD, a field goal, a Ben Davis blocked punt for a score and a Nigel Beckford 7-yard TD run made it 23-6.

Every time Richmond scored in the second half, Maine responded with points.

Freshman QB Drew Belcher threw for 119 yards, no touchdowns but no picks either He was Maine's leading rusher with 94 yards and a touchdown.

Richmond was coming off a win over highly ranked Villanova. Maine was coming off a bye week.

The Bears travel to Elon in North Carolina next Saturday.
