Charlotte Bobcats first year coach Steve Clifford was admitted to a hospital last night and remains there getting further tests as a precaution. Both ESPN and the Charlotte Observer are reporting that Clifford told team officials  he was not feeling well last night.

Bobcats president of basketball operations Rod Higgins says the tests are being conducted as a precaution. Higgins said he does not know if Clifford will coach in tonight's game against the New York Knicks. Assistant coach Patrick Ewing would likely fill in as head coach.

Clifford, 52, played his college ball at the University of Maine at Farmington. His first coaching job was at Woodland HS.

He's been an assistant coach in the NBA for 13 years and was named Charlotte head coach back in May. The Bobcats are off to a 3-2 start to the season.
