Every time the young Hampden Bronco basketball team needed a play, the one guy with lots of experience, 6-5 center Ian McIntyre came up big. The Bronco home winning streak has reached 57 with last night's 59-48 win over Messalonskee.

The win puts Hampden at 2-0 and drops the Eagles to 1-1.

McIntyre scored 18 points but it was his intimidating defense and rebounding that helped his young teammates the most.

Those young teammates came through as well. Sophomore Kory Winch scored 19 points off the bench. Freshmen Bryce Lausier and Michael Raye each added eight.

The Broncos held Messalosnkee to 23 points through three quarters and then the Eagles turned up the heat - on offense and defense. James Kouletsis scored 14 fourth quarter points as the Eagles trapped the young Hampden guards forcing turnovers.

But the Broncos hit free throws down the stretch, 12-for-14 in the fourth quarter, and got the win.
