Sometimes a loss feels like a win. Case in point, last night the Boston Bruins lost in overtime 2-1 but wrapped up a playoff spot.

In the NHL each team gets one point for a regulation tie and the second point goes to the team that scores in overtime or in the shootout.

With that point, the Bruins moved to 45-17-10, good for 100 points in the standings. That guarantees a playoff spot with 10 regular season games to play.

Last night's contest in St. Louis was a typical B's - Blues matchup. Tight checking and physical.

Rookie Ryan Donato scored (his second goal in two NHL games) halfway through the first period and that goal held up until halfway through the third period when Jaden Schwartz scored for the Blues to tie the game at 1-1.

Just 30 seconds into the overtime, Schwartz scored again and the game was over.
