The Boston Bruins excitement of winning an overtime preseason game last night is now met with the news that veteran defensman Dennis Seidenberg will be out eight weeks with a back injury.

The team now says Seidenberg will have back surgery on Thursday to repair a lumbar spine disc herniation. He is expected to miss eight weeks. A year ago, Seidenberg played in all 82 games for the B's.

The Bruins played their second preseason game last night, beating the Washington Caps 2-1 in overtime. David Pastrnak scored both goals, including the winner just 12 seconds into OT. The teams used the new 3-on-3 overtime system that will be employed this season.
