After 40 years behind the bench and 894 wins Jack Parker announces Monday he will retire as Boston University hockey coach whenever the Terriers playoff run ends.

The 68-year-old Parker played at BU and then took over as head coach back in 1973. His teams have won three national championships, seven Hockey East titles and 21 Beanpot Tournaments.

His 894 wins is third most in college hockey and most ever by a coach at a single school.

Parker and his BU team is a #3 seed in the HE quarterfinals and hosts #6 Merrimack in a best-of-three series starting Friday.
