Former UMaine linebacker John Huard will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame Tuesday night in New York. Huard was a two-time All American for the Black Bears and then went on to play in the NFL with the Denver Broncos and New Orleans Saints.

Huard will be part of class of 16 inductees into the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame. Other inductees include Tony Boselli(USC), Willie Roaf(La Tech), Sterling Sharpe(S.Carolina) and LaDainian Tomlinson(TCU).

Huard was part of Maine's 1965 Tangerine Bowl team. He was the first football player inducted into the Maine Athletic Hall of Fame.

As a coach, Huard took Acadia University to two Canadian national titles. He coached the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL and coached at Maine Maritime Academy in Castine.

Huard is a native of Waterville.
