Bangor High School senior Justin Courtney is set to attend and play baseball next year at the University of Maine. But, could a MLB team draft him in the amateur draft that begins today?

UMaine coach Steve Trimper says the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels have checked out Courtney this spring. Trimper believes it is possible a club might take a chance and pick him in the late rounds.

MLB's draft starts tonight with teams picking the first two rounds. Friday it is rounds 3 through 10. Saturday it is rounds 11-40.

Trimper says he thinks another incoming freshman, Chris Murphy, a righthanded pitcher from Massachusetts might have the best chance to be drafted.

Senior pitcher Tommy Lawrence is another player likely to get a chance to play pro ball.

USM coach Ed Flaherty believes Huskies senior centerfielder Forrest Chadwick may also get that chance.
