It’s time for you to help us decide again who should be the winner of this week’s High School Athlete of the Week.  We have three great winter sport performers up for this week’s voting.

Bangor’s Rihan Smallwood cleared her previous best pole vault mark over the weekend at the PVC Eastern Maine Indoor Track League and set a new record.  Smallwood bested her prior mark by two inches and cleared 10 feet and nine inches during the event.  Her mark was a full two feet and three inches better than the next highest at the meet.  She’ll be competing on Friday and trying to improve her mark as part of the EMITL Championship at UMaine in Orono.

Cody Craig of Skowhegan finished in first place in the KVAC championships over the weekend as he took home the top spot at 106 pounds.  Craig finished his meet with a pin over Noah Dumas of Cony to secure the title.  The Indians won the meet in the conference with 148 points, besting Mt Ararat who had 145.5.  Craig reached the 200 career win mark back on January 25th, currently sitting at 209 overall victories with 100 pins, and has never lost in the state of Maine.  He will vie for his fourth straight state title and all-state title later in the season, which the latter has never been done before in the state.

Junior Bryce Gilbert of Piscataquis Community High School has been filling the score book this 2016-17 season and had a big week for his team.  Gilbert had 32 points and seven rebounds versus Schenck, and then put up 26 points in a win versus Stearns and 25 more against Orono.  He has already set the single season school scoring record for the Pirates with two games left to go for the 7-9 PCHS side on the year.

The decision is up to you to choose who you think is the High School Athlete of the Week between these three great performers!
