Russell Currier, from the tiny town of Stockholm in Aroostook County, will be the only athlete from Maine competing in the Sochi Olympic Games next month. He is one of 230 athletes on Team USA.

That 230 member team is the largest ever from any country in Winter Olympic history.

Currier, 26, is a Caribou High School grad and trained through the years at the Maine Winter Sports Center in Aroostook County.

He will compete in several of the biathlon events at Sochi.

Americans did not medal in any biathlon event in the 2010 Olympics.
