University of Maine kicker Kenny Doak did it again! For the second straight week, a buzzer-beating field goal to give the Black Bears a win. This time a 38-36 victory at Rhode Island.

Last week, Doak's 52-yarder beat Villanova. This one against Rhody was from 39-yards away.

The Black Bears move to 3-0 in the CAA and 4-2 overall. The victory spoils homecoming for the Rams who drop to 2-1 and 4-2.

The game marked the return of quarterback Chris Ferguson who returned from a shoulder injury to lead Maine to two late-game touchdowns.

With 2:28 left in the game, Ferguson scrambled and scored a TD from nine yards out and the Bears led 35-30.

But credit Rhode Island. The Rams came down the field and scored a go-ahead TD. Several costly penalties by the Bears aided the drive. Rhody missed the two-point conversion and whle the Rams led 36-35, the miss would be a key factor.

Ferguson and company drove down the field and got Doak set up in postition for his game winning field goal.

After sitting out the last two games, Ferguson returned and went 30-for-48 passing, 278 yards and two TDs.

Micah Wright caught 10 passes for 125 yards and a TD.

URI went with backup QB Vito Priore. He was in for injured starter JuJawn Lawson. Priore was 19-for-40, 256 yards with two TDs and two interceptions.

NOTE: The Black Bears are back on the road again next week, at William & Mary in Virginia.
