EKU Misses Playoffs, Mayo Career Ends

Nick Mayo's brilliant college basketball career came to an end last night. His Eastern Kentucky Colonels lost 78-77 to Morehead State in the final game of the season, eliminating EKU from the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.

Mayo's jumper to win the game with just seconds left would not drop. He finished with 27 points, 7 rebounds, 4 blocks, 3 assists and 2 steals.

The Colonels finish the season 6-12 OVC and 13-18 overall.

The former Messalonskee High School standout is the school's all-time leading scorer and is the fifth highest scorer in OVC history.
