Ellsworth 44 John Bapst 24

The Ellsworth Boy's basketball team dominated John Bapst, Saturday night, December 13th at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth to improve to 3-0 with a 44-24 victory.

Photo Chris Popper Townsquare Media[/caption]Ellsworth jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the 1st Quarter. Griffin Nightingale swished 2 3-pointes and Nick Bagley drained a long 3-pointer as well for the Eagles. Spencer Baron had the lone points for the Crusaders.

In the 2nd Quarter, Ellsworth kept up the defensive pressure to take a 23-8 lead at the half. John Bapst only scored one field goal, by Tom Feng, as their remaining points came from the free throw line. For Ellsworth, Bagley scored 9 points, including 2 3-pointers in the quarter.

In the 3rd Quarter, John Bapst's Nick Smith hit 2 3-pointers for 6 of the Crusaders 10 points. Nightingale had another 3-pointer for Ellsworth. At the end of three quarters, Ellsworth led 32-18.

In the 4th Quarter, Ellsworth held John Bapst scoreless for the first 5:32 before Elliott Soucy scored. For Ellsworth, Alex Braley drained a 3 pointer and Bryce Harmon had 4 points.

Ellsworth was led by Nick Bagley with 12 points, Griffin Nightingale with 11 points. Deon McDevitt scored his first varsity points. Ellsworth was 5-12 from the free throw line. John Bapst wass led by Nate Smith with 6 points, Tom Feng with 4 points and Alex Mooney with 4 points. Five Crusaders each had 2 points. They were 6-14 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth, now 3-0, will play host to Old Town, who are also 3-0 on Tuesday, December 16th at 7 PM. John Bapst, 0-2, plays host to Lee Academy Tuesday, December 16th at 7 PM.
