The Ellsworth Eagles took the long ride on Route 9 to Calais, and beat the Blue Devils 78-71 in overtime to end their pre-Christmas schedule 4-1. Ellsworth sank 13 3-pointers in the game, while Calais hit 8 3-pointers.

Calais took a 21-20 lead in the 1st quarter. Travon Rhodes sank 3 long 3-pointers for 9 points, Kyle Johnson had 6 points and Andre Paul had 4 points for the Blue Devils. Alex Braley had 8 points including 2 3-pointers, Bryce Harmon had 6 points, going 4-6 from the free point line and Nick Bagley and Dylan Kelley each sank a 3-pointer for the Eagles.

Calais extended their lead at the half 37-32.Rhodes had 5 points, including another 3-pointer to have 14 points at the half. Johnson sank a 3 pointer for 5 points in the quarter for Calais. For Ellsworth, Harmon had 6 points, and Bagley sank another 3-pointer.

In the 3rd Quarter, Ellsworth outscored Calais 15-6 to take a 47-43 lead. Bagley sank 2 3-pointers for 6 points, and Alex Braley had a 3-pointer for Ellsworth. Tyler Niles scored all 6 points for Calais.

The 4th Quarter ended with both teams tied at 63. Niles had 9 points including a 3-pointer, Rhodes sank 2 more 3-pointers to end up with 6 3-pointers on the evening. Nathan Russell had a 3-pointer for Calais. Bagley had 7 points for Ellsworth, including another 3-pointer. Mitchell Domagala had 5 points including a 3-pointer, and Harmon had a 3-pointer.

In Overtime, Bagley scored 9 points, with a 3-pointer and went 6-6 from the free throw line. Braley had 5 points including a 3-pointer and was 2-2 from the free throw line. Calais received 2 points each from Paul, Niles, Johnson and Matt Perkins.

Ellsworth was led by Nick Bagley with a game high 28 points including 6 3-pointers.  Bryce Harmon had 17 points including 1 3-pointer, and Alex Braley had 16 points with 4 3-pointers. Ellsworth was 20-26 from the free throw line, including going 9-10 in overtime.

Calais was led by Travon Rhodes with 20 points including 6 3-pointers. Tyler Niles had 19 points including 1 3-pointer and Kyle Johnson had 13 points including 1 3-pointer. Calais was 8-13 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth, now 4-1 is off until December 29th when they play  at Presque Isle at 6:30 PM and then at Caribou on December 30th at 2:30 PM.

Calais is now 2-1 and play at Mattanawcook Academy on Saturday, December 27th at 2:30 PM.
