The 2014 Eastern Maine Boy's Soccer Team is the Ellsworth Eagles! Ellsworth defeated Oceanside 2-1 at Maine Maritime Academy in Castine on Wednesday, November 5th, after the Ellsworth field proved to be unplayable after last Sunday's foot plus snowstorm.

Ellsworth will play Yarmouth at Deering High School in Portland on Saturday, November 8th at 10 am for the State Championship. It's a rematch of the 2010 game, where Yarmouth beat Ellsworth 5-0. That's the last time that Ellsworth played in the State Championship, when the current seniors were freshmen!

Coming into last night's game, Ellsworth had trailed only twice all season long, both times to Foxcroft Academy. The first time resulted in a tie, the only blemish to Ellsworth's so far perfect season, and the second was in the Eastern Maine Semi-final, when Ellsworth won 6-2 on Halloween.

Ellsworth ended up trailing for the 3rd time in the season, when Oceanside scored first with 9:21 remaining in the 1st half. Stephen Goodridge knocked the ball in, after the ball had hit the corner post twice. Oceanside led 1-0 and that's the way the first half ended, despite  Ellsworth outshooting Oceanside 13-4.

Ellsworth came out inspired in the second half, and scored twice within the first five minutes of the half. With 1:38 gone in the half, Conor Maguire scored for Ellsworth to tie the game, as Jack Weeks had the assist. Then, less than 2 minutes later, Ellsworth was up for good, as Jack Weeks scored from Conor Maguire and Walter Moeller with 3:27 elapsed.

Ellsworth outshot Oceanside in the game 20-7. Ellsworth's Bruce St. Peter played the first half in goal, and Nick Bagley played the second half. Colby Dorr played in goal the entire game for the Oceanside Mariners.

The fans never had a doubt that Ellsworth was going to win, as they had a cake on the field to celebrate!
